Nigeria's Ummah Zakat Foundation launches EasyZakat to calculate, collect and track zakat
Nigeria's Ummah Zakat Foundation announced that it would inaugurate its Board of Trustees and unveil its EasyZakat digital platform at the National Mosque auditorium in Abuja, with the Sultan of Sokoto as special guest of honour. The foundation describes itself as a faith-inspired non-profit that uses zakat, sadaqah and other Islamic philanthropy to reduce poverty and support vulnerable people. EasyZakat is a web and mobile application to calculate, pay, collect, track and distribute zakat, connecting givers, beneficiaries, administrators and institutions. It offers digital records, beneficiary validation, auditable transaction trails and real-time tracking of contributions. In the steering committee's words, the platform is not only a payment channel but also a built-in accountability mechanism.
